Fundraising Committee

After the success of the Christmas concert and fundraiser we are looking to get a small committee together to help plan other events and raise money for additional resources.  We know that lots of parents have considerable experience in this area! We would like this to be the start of a PTA for the school. If you are interested in helping with this or have any ideas then please contact Julie Griffith or Jasmine Blanche on 020 7607 5885.

ESOL classes

English classes are open to all parents and carers of students attending the school. They are on Tuesday mornings from 9.30am - 11.00am and taught by a qualified ESOL teacher. Classes are for those at beginner/Entry Level 1. For more information contact Justin Willson/Ozlem Yuges - 020 7689 1497.

These are held once a year for each group. You can discuss your child's progress with their teachers and speak to the Director of Learning/Head of Year and other staff if you need to. You  also complete a questionnaire giving us feedback on how you think we are doing as a school. We invite representatives from organisations such as Family Outreach Support Service to attend. They offer families information, support and advice.

Parents' forums have been a great success in the past and are now a regular event in the school calendar.  Forums are where parents/carers are updated on specific school issues and are able to discuss and contribute give their views on  various topics. Past forums have looked at homework, behaviour, student voice and the school/home contract. We also had a 'hands-on' forum where parents and carers experienced the MLE, Fronter and MyMaths websites.

The forum meetings for 2012/13 are on Wednesday 23 January and Wednesday 10 July  2013 .

We would like to work with parents and carers to organise more social events and fundraisers. Would you like to help organise a coffee event, forum or social event for parents and carers? Have you got a good idea to involve parents/carers in school life?

Please contact Julie Griffith, Assistant Headteacher - 020 7689 1501  griffith.j@holloway.islington.sch.uk

Safeguarding students

At Holloway School we see children’s safety and welfare as of paramount importance.  We are committed to working with parents and carers to ensure that our pupils have a happy, safe and good learning environment both at school and at home. In order to ensure that your child is safe, we do the following:

• Keep entrances and exits locked. Entry to the school by visitors is through the controlled reception

• Ensure that all visitors are wearing identification tags

• Have a clear Health and Safety Policy which includes, evacuation procedures in case of fire or other emergency, administering of medicines and first aid safety when taking part in activities away from the school site

• Have an anti-bullying policy and promote a culture where bullying is unacceptable

• Make sure that all staff working at the school has been thoroughly vetted before they are allowed to work with the students.

If you ever have any concerns about our safeguarding procedures, please do not hesitate to contact Julie Griffith  - 0207 689 1501 or Rhona Bicette - 0207 689 1504.
