Admission Criteria

Holloway School is one of six community secondary schools in Islington. Community schools are schools that are built and looked after by Islington Council. In Islington all school admissions are administered on behalf of the local authority by Cambridge Education @ Islington.

Apply online for a school place (a paper form is available by calling the admissions team on 0207 527 5515).

To apply on-line go to- www.eadmissions.org.uk/

As a community school Holloway applies the following admission criteria in order of priority:

1. Looked After Children (children that are in care of the Local Authority) and children with a Statement of Special Educational Needs

2. Social / Medical Consideration - If your child has special needs but does not have a statement, and you feel the needs of your child can only be met at a particular school, you can apply for social/medical/educational need consideration. If you think you have a case for consideration you must explain how your preferred school can meet your child's needs better than any other school and be supported by recent documentation from a suitable professional, like a doctor. This must be handed in with your application form.

3. Sibling Criteria - If your child has a sibling already at a school, and they will still be attending when your younger child starts, then you can apply under these grounds. For Islington community schools siblings are those that will be on roll up to and including year 11 only.

4. Distance Criteria - Places are then offered to children living nearest to the school. The distance from your home to school is measured on a computerised mapping system using the safest, shortest walking route. Routes used by car or public transport are not taken into account. If you are not successful in obtaining a place under this criteria, your child will be placed on a waiting list in distance order.
